2005 Cone-Lympics Results

Points totals coming soon. Team Japan won, with Germany making a strong showing.

Cone-Lympics Rules

*** Cone-Lympics rules ***

Team Composition:
-----------------

Each team will have a leader appointed by the event chairs,
who is responsible for organizing his/her own group and
appointing representative(s) for the various "athletic"
events.

Teams will consist of registered autocross competitors, based
on the nationality of their car:

USA - GM, Ford, Chrysler, etc.

Japan - Acura, Infiniti, Honda, Lexus, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Nissan,
        Subaru, Suzuki, Toyota, etc.

Great Britain - Lotus, MG, Jaguar, Triumph, Rover, [old] Mini Cooper,
        etc.

Germany - [new] Mini Cooper, Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Porsche, VW, etc.

Sweden - Saab, Volvo, etc.

Italy - You know who you are!

France - Renault, etc.

Korea - Daewoo, Hyundai, Kia, etc.

USSR/Russia - Lada, etc. (9 bonus points if one shows up!)

Yugoslavia - Yugo.

Jamaica Bobsled Team - All A-Mod, B-Mod, C-Mod, and F-Mod cars.

In the case of engine swaps across nationalities, the
origin of the *chassis* determines the country of origin
and the team.

After careful consideration, the new Mini Cooper has been
classed as a German car. While the British purists may
disagree, the entire rationale for this decision is that
the new Mini has working lights and doesn't leak all
over the ground wherever you park it. Therefore, it's
obviously *not* British, but rather a tiny BMW...and therefore
German.

If there are any oversights or clarifications needed in the
classing above, the event chairs are the final judge.

Scoring:
--------

The autocross competition will be scored as a normal event,
with trophies given out to the top 33% of drivers, as usual.

The team event will be scored by a total of points, based
from three sources -- top 10 raw times, top 10 PAX times,
and individual "athletic" event points. Top 10 driving times
will be taken at the end of the day, based on the following
scale: 9,6,4,3,2,1,1,1,1,1. "Athletic" events will be
scored on the same scale.

In the event of a tie, the tie-breaker will be a cone-stacking
"athletic" competition between the two tied teams, as arranged
by the event chairs.

"Athletic Events:"
------------------

Each team will pick one person (or group for relay event)
to represent them in the "athletic" portion of the competition.
Events will include:

- Cone toss

- 20 yard cone dash

- Cone relay

Awards:
-------

Individual "athletic" event medals will be awarded at the
end of each event. Driving medals and team championship
medals will be awarded at the closing ceremonies at the
end of the competition day.

Protest:
--------

We're out to have fun. If there are any questions about
the rules, the event chairs are the protest committee and
have the final say. I'm sure that there will be oversights,
and we've all heard how unfair PAX is. Hopefully, we'll
have all of the kinks worked out of the rules in time for
the third annual Cone-Lympics.
